My life as a composer began with vocal music, and I aspire in my instrumental works to the lyricism and clarity of song. As its title suggests, Aria is just that: a song, a single melody presented in a series of contrasting settings and transformations. In this regard, the piece serves as a kind of artistic credo, a statement of what matters most to me as a composer at this time.

Aria is dedicated with love and admiration to Jacqueline Pollauf, who commissioned the work.
